ENSURING SCOUTING'S
FUTURE
"A VEHICLE TO ENDOW THE FUTURE"
"The Past is our heritage,
The present our opportunity,
The future our hope."
Encouraging gifts to the Patriot's Path Council endowment fund is one of Scouting's highest priorities. It is one of the best ways to ensure that our council will continue to offer the outstanding programs it now has and also grow to meet the needs of the youth and communities it serves.
In its gratitude for such support, the Patriot's Path Council, Boy Scouts of America offers three distinct endowment recognition awards. These awards are presented at local events that the Patriots' Path Council conducts. Those programs are:
The James E. West Fellowship Program
Membership in the West Fellowship is available for gifts of $1,000 or more in cash or marketable securities to a council endowment fund. The gift must be in addition to, and not replace or diminish, the donor's annual Friends of Scouting support.
James E. West was the first Chief Scout executive of the Boy Scouts of America, serving for more than three decades. Many individuals and corporations make these gifts either on behalf of someone else, such as to honor of an Eagle Scout, a Scouter retirement, special accomplishment or anniversary, or in memory of another. If an institution is truly "the lengthened shadow of one man," it is fitting that the BSA honor James E. West's significant contributions to Scouting through this fellowship and legacy.
1910 Society membership is available to donors who make gifts of $25,000 or more to the Patriots' Path Council Endowment Fund. These gifts can be in the form of cash, securities, land, five-year pledges, or other property suitable for a council endowment (or easily converted to cash). There are four levels of recognition, in honor of four very special individuals who shaped modern-day Scouting:
Ernest
Thompson Seton:
nationally known artist, naturalist, and author of the first official
American Scout handbook and other important Scouting books; $25,000
minimum gift
Daniel
Carter Beard:
first National Court of Honor chairman, first national Scout
commissioner, and author of many well-known books and stories for
youth; $100,000 and up
Theodore
Roosevelt:
first Chief Scout Citizen, first president of the BSA, and president of
the United States; $500,000 and up
The Patriots' Path Council Heritage Society is intended to recognize deferred gifts, less than $100,000, designed for council endowment funds. With deferred giving (planned giving) so widely and effectively used by so many donors, the BSA wants to recognize the importance of such major gifts. Unlike the other endowment recognition awards, a donor may qualify for membership with gifts made through:
Recognition for deferred gifts of $100,000 or more.
Bronze Member $100,000 minimum
Silver Member $250,000 minimum
Gold Member $500,000 minimum
Platinum Member $1,000,000 minimum
